
SHANGHAI (Aug. 31, 2010) — General Motors celebrated the arrival of the first drivable Chevrolet Volt in China today. China is one of the initial markets outside the United States to receive the Volt. GM’s landmark electric vehicle with extended-range capability will go on sale locally next year.
During the celebration, GM delivered two Chevrolet Volts to the Shanghai Expo Bureau for use as part of its VIP transportation fleet at World Expo 2010 Shanghai. The Volt will shuttle special guests to and from Shanghai’s Expo Park and demonstrate GM’s pathway to its vision of sustainable urban transportation.

BAY CITY, Mich. (August 18, 2010) - General Motors today announced a $20 million investment in its Bay City, Mich. Powertrain operations to produce camshafts for the next generation Ecotec engine, bringing new investment at the plant to $62.5 million this year.
“This specific investment results in 15 jobs at the plant, but the cumulative employment impact of these three investments is 113 people,” said GM Manufacturing Manager Gerald Johnson.

WARREN, Mich. (August 3, 2010) —It’s not air conditioning, but it is a breeze you might appreciate just the same on a hot August day. General Motors commemorated the 30th anniversary of the Aerodynamics Laboratory in Warren. The wind tunnel is one of the largest ever constructed for automotive use. It features a 4,500-hp motor and 43-foot fan that can create wind speeds in excess of 130 miles per hour.

Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC are leveraging OnStar technology to develop the most robust mobile applications on the market for new vehicle owners. Each of the brand-specific apps will allow owners to activate all of the functions available on a traditional vehicle key fob – remote start, horn and lights and door lock/unlock – securely from their smartphones. This means drivers will no longer have to be within a requisite distance, or even have their keys with them, to control these functions on their vehicles.
