Honeoye Falls Fuel Cell Team Helps FIRST Students

Employees at the Honeoye Falls Fuel Cell site partnered with an energized Team Gear Freeze, comprised of 11 Honeoye Falls Lima Middle School Students, to help them take first place at a robotics competition recently held at the University of Rochester.

DETROIT (January 6, 2010) — Team Gear Freeze was named the Regional Champions in the Greater Finger Lakes Region after competing against 100 teams to achieve their championship status.

Lordstown Experiences A World In Motion (AWIM)

Lordstown's assembly plant recently welcomed 40 fifth-grade students from a nearby Lordstown elementary school and provided a plant tour and a presentation at the conclusion of the plant's A World in Motion (AWIM) program.

DETROIT (December 9, 2009) — GM engineers mentored the students and assisted in the development of their math and science skills. As a planned activity from this effort, students were challenged to build and test a jet toy.

New “Teach Green” Blog Encourages Conversation and Sharing of Tips and Ideas for Classrooms

GM’s education web site offers teachers and students resources and activities that highlight energy, environment and sustainability topics

Calling all teachers! GM’s K-12 education web site has just launched a new blog to help encourage conversation, information sharing and the exchange of advice amongst teachers who want to promote “green” lessons in their classrooms. To help get the conversation going, GM has tapped a couple of teachers that were recipients of a “Live Green” teacher grant sponsored by GM and Discovery Education last year. These teachers will share their thoughts and ideas around teaching topics related to the environment, energy and advanced technologies. Readers are encouraged to get engaged in the discussion and offer their own experiences with teaching “green” in the classroom by submitting comments and personal stories to Educationeditor@gmblogs.com.
